Fuld Local Battery Desk Telephone

This local battery telephone was manufactured by the Nationale Telefon- und Telegraphenwerke (formerly H. Fuld). The base plate is printed with FN-129/29; the circuit diagram in the housing cover also bears this number. The number 29 does probably not indicate an OB 29, because the OB 29's induction coil has no side-tone attenuation. The company name N.T.T. (National Telephone and Telegraph Works) suggests a date of manufacture between 1933 (prior to this H. Fuld & Co.) and 1937 (thereafter Telefonbau und Normalzeit).

The Fuld (1932) and N.T.T. (1935) catalogues present a telephone model OB 31 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. The telephone shown on this page has got a handset like the Fuld Maingau and, in particular, the bell's low resistance of 600 Ω, speaks against use by the Reichsbahn

This device is possibly a variant of the OB 31 for the Reichspost or private systems.

This apparatus is not mentioned on the Geschichtsvereins Informationstechnik e.V. (Association for the History of Information Technology) website, which in particular deals with the products of the Fuld company, later T&N. In the offprint of the Günther Mergelsberg's book, Die Telefone des Herrn Fuld. Bad Homburg : SIG, 2013 the apparatus is shown on page 10.
